The E7-20 FTA resilient design includes 8 individual variable speed fans that maintain system cooling even with one fan failure. Airflow is from the bottom of the chassis (toward the line cards)
Each FTA is hot-swappable and can be quickly replaced by unlocking the latches, removing the failed unit and sliding in the new FTA. Each FTA includes a field replaceable fan filter that slides underneath the fan assembly.
Note: Do not leave a powered E7-20 operating for more than one minute without a fan module installed, to avoid overheating the system.
